The SCBILC meets quarterly, generally on the fourth Thursday of March, June, September and December. (See Calendar for upcoming meetings) Ongoing committees include the following:
· Executive Committee. Consisting of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Committee Chairpersons, the executive committee provides governance to the SCBILC and serves as its official representative.
· The Systems Development Committee. This committee assesses and reports current state efforts and opportunities related to SCBILC priority areas and current/potential capacity of state agencies and service providers related to priority areas. It also researches and reports on other state and federal programs regarding alternative service approaches and develops draft report documents and recommendations related to priority areas for approval by SCBILC.
· The Training and Conference Planning Committee. This committee has assisted the USC Center for Disability Resources in developing the TBI Training Institute. Additionally, this committee plans and promotes appropriate training events, including certification opportunities and a recurring statewide Brain Injury Conference sponsored by the Brain Injury Alliance of South Carolina and collaborating organizations.
· The Awareness and Prevention Committee. This committee identifies, obtains and produces informational materials about brain injury and injury prevention and develops strategies to reach the general public and target groups, such as employers. It also helps the BIASC implement public information/education strategies and coordinates with public awareness and community education activities of state agencies and organizations participating on the SCBILC.
· Project Management and Evaluation Committee. This committee led and coordinated inter-related goals of the HRSA-funded TBI State Planning and Implementation Grants and monitored progress of project activities. |
